Hallmark Five:

Strayer’s textbook expresses Hallmark Five well.  From the first chapter of the book to the last he touches on diversity, cultures, ethnicity, race, economics, age, gender, sexuality and faith throughout the world. The book shown how Strayer addressed each of these issues in every era and what role they all played during that time.  Strayer used great illustrations in the text to bring to light the stories of the silk, sea and land roads. Strayer highlighted women roles in history how once women were equal, to the time when women became nurtures, and then how women became independent and were able to vote.  The sisters have always had the people best interest at heart.  They marched forward to have women be strong and stand on their own, As NDNU being the first to give a bachelor’s degree to a woman. The sisters have held strong with their community overlooking race, diversity, cultures, ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality, and faith throughout the world as well.

Please refer to the learning outcomes in your syllabus for this class. Did the course meet these outcomes? Were any of the outcomes not met? In answering this question, cite specific course activities or assignments that stand out to you.

I loved the way you implemented the classes and yes you did keep with your syllabus.  You did meet the course outcomes.  I loved how you kept us involved with debates.  Kept us awake and made us work together to act out the Epic of Gilgamesh.  Made us work together as teams to understand the reading better.   Form teams to put on the board details of the Seminal thinkers Socrates, Confucius, Buddha, Jesus, and Mohamed. As we moved through the time lines you created fun exercises for all of us to experience.  The Rule where women could not speak was interesting.  I did enjoy your class although I will never grasp all the information so my words may be short since I am not a historian.

Are we moving into a new historical era? Do the items listed under “Post-Modern” reflect the world we live in today and the future we seem to be working toward? Why or why not?

Yes, are moving into a new era of artificial intelligence, genic manipulation as we have seen in the growing field of genome editing and robotics.  We can take embryos and create new human organs and we can destroy the world with a push of a button.  Post-modern?  Well, to have successful regulation of capitalism would be the least amount of regulation.  Over regulated is harming our world. This a lack of cooperation among peoples is causing chaos and wars as history as shown.  I don’t think we are going to get away from corruption and the control of government.    As we move forward with newer technologies and ways to improve or destroy our lives we are always going to have obstacles.  I hope we will have a cleaner way of life with the way we process our energy and drive our vehicle’s. I hope the way my grandchildren and their children live is wonderful.  With new technologies and advances in medicine people will be able to live longer and surgery’s that will be less invasive. Who knows what will happen with our world. Hopefully we will not blow each other up we will want to sustain a better quality of life.
