The Mongols

                                                    The   Mongol and Pastoral people

The Mongols were barbaric but they were amazing they conquered land with great speed.  They acquired and controlled 11 million square miles and took out Russia in the thirteen centuries some say the Mongolians created Russian.  They created the first free trade zone.

The pastoral people lived a nomadic life they were herders and moved about according to climate. They had perishable products so they had to stay and lived near small towns. They herds were primarily horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the two-humped camel.   They were tough people exposed to the elements of both winter cold and desert heat. They were egalitarian people sharing everything with the women.   They did a lot of trading for manufactured products because they had only perishables.

The Mongols were a small pastoral group. They controlled the world because they were successful at taking over cities and killing people. The leader of the people was named Genghis Khan, who survived the death of his father who was poisoned and he became in charge of the family, which later he killed his brother and his first wife was kidnapped which seemed to happen frequently during the era. Genghis Khan fought a civil war and won taking in the under privileged and making the rich poor or killing them.  He acquired lots of land all the way to the Caspian Sea and the people came with the land.  He later died in 1227 and his family kept conquering the world. Today there are 16 million direct decedents of Genghis Khan.

The Mongols had good military skills and invaded communities sometimes killing them all and something just capturing them. They were good at trade and valued it because they could tax it.  They developed the Yam system which helped them communicate quickly.   Rice was a big staple for the Mongolian people.  The Mongolian people practiced shamanistic believing in spirits.  The Mongols excepted all people’s religions.

Mongolians had some weird thoughts such as these words the Greatest happiness is to conquer your enemies, rob them of their wealth see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters”.  The Mongolians were real violent people killing and burning cities. Because they were so big into trade they helped spread the plague.  There empire only lasted 80 years and they faded out becoming a farming community.
