THE
SILK ROAD
The silk road was not a road it was a network of trade routes. It reshaped the lives of everyone, people
exchanging ideas, products, drugs, spices, trade offered a way to meet their wives,
husbands, and by this it helped to expand the family unit as well as the cities.
Trade connections were made between Africa,
Eurasia, Eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia and China. Silk was only found in China and was a highly guarded
secret. China spun the silk from the cocoons of worms that feed on the mulberry
trees. Silk was a sign of the elite and the elite finally had something to
spend their money on. Silk kept them
cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
You could call this the bling of the seconded and third century CE.
Some of the products that travel on the silk road networks were
olives, olive oil and wine from Mediterranean region, jade, silver and iron
from China, cotton from India, ivory from East Africa, and Arabia exported
incense, spices and tortes’ shells. Nomads’
moved these goods from one location to another by caravan, causing the rise of
product prices along the way.
The trading along the way gave way to disease and had great
influence on politics. There were some good things that happened because of the
silk road it changed the life of the people. Expanding economics pushed more
people to go into business. Spinning silk
gave way to new jobs for people and made the rich richer. Buddhism, was practice in a large spread
area Mahayana. Monks that lived in the mountains prayed for
the travelers caring the trade. In 1346
CE Black
of death killed half of the European people in four years lots of people died
in Italy and 2/3 in London. It was the beginning
of the new world. Does it get better?
