Agriculure in early civilzation
Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering how the first person figured out how to grow plants for food. Did early civilization see a small little growth in the dirt and watched it grow daily into a plant when water such as rain was added?
Did early civilization figure it out that the little plant would sustain life? And which ones would not kill them? When did early civilization figured out that the plant would grow back after it was cut or harvested with the first rains?
I guess in their dyer need not to starve they had to try lots of different plants and berries to find out what was good and what was bad to eat. I believe they watch the animals and if it ate the plant or berries and lived they would try it and if it did not make them sick they would add it to there diet.
In reading about the first form of agriculture the consciences is that over a long time the people who first observed the plants growing in the wild started to see the regeneration of the plant by the seeds. The seeds either blow in the wind and the plants multiplied with the rain or when they were eating or grinding the plants such as wild wheat, oats or barley and the seeds feel around there living area and campfires where they cooked and water might have spilled and started to grow.
Most of the agriculture grew in the middle east, Turkey, Israel and in China rice was grown.
I took a long time for civilization to start to think about growing crops. It must of been after the Ice age because land warmed up and was very fertile. People started to move around less. Started to stay in one area and the population started to build. They need more food so they took to grown or regenerating the wild crops. The tools developed in the stone age help then to plant and reaerate these crops.
